Built with the sun in mind, Campus Co-op Commons features an innovative passive solar design to maximize natural heating and cooling systems. The large front windows create a bright and inviting living space.

The south side features a “living roof” designed and built in collaboration with a University of Guelph research project.

A rainwater collection system underneath the building will capture rainwater that will be used to offset toilet water consumption.

Don’t want to hear what’s on your neighbour’s TV? Solid concrete construction buffers you from outside noise. The smartly designed suites come equipped with 4 (furnished) bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer and a kitchen that opens on to a bright, airy living room.

Our green roof was invented right here at UofG

14 Reasons to live here:

1. It couldn’t be closer to campus.

The University’s southern border is College Ave. Campus Co-op Commons is half a block away from the pivot point of College and Gordon Street. Your classes are a short walk away.

2. This is really well-designed housing.

Campus Co-op Commons is designed for student life. Ecologically engineered. Energy efficient. Water conserving. Rain-water collecting. Passive solar. Waste sensible.

3. The neighbourhood is safe and friendly.

Campus Co-op Commons is situated in an established residential neighbourhood that feels good and safe and friendly.

4. Guelph Transit is right outside the door.

The Commons is on Guelph Transit bus route 1A/1B (Stone Road Mall, Metro, Zehrs, No Frills, and the University Centre). A three-minute walk away are the Greyhound stop (Toronto, the world) and Guelph Transit 2A/2B West Loop, 3A/3B East Loop, 5 Gordon & 16 Southgate stops.

5. It has a living roof.

Yup. The roof is alive. According to research done in England, green spaces make students mentally healthier. Students study better and get better grades. You’ll basically live under a beautiful, colourful meadow that will make you smarter. How cool is that?

We still recommend that you study, though.

6. The suites are sweet.

Each four-bedroom unit has two full bathrooms and a generous living space. The open-concept kitchen and living areas have floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows. Each unit has its own private balcony or terrace.

7. Your room is furnished.

Bed with mattress. Wardrobe. Desk. Chair. Window shades.

8. The floors radiate heat.

In-floor radiant heating is the best heat you can have. (You won’t believe how good it feels on your feet.) No noisy furnace or dehydrating forced air. Just lovely, evenly distributed radiant heat from the floors. And you control the temperature of your unit.

9. Silence is there when you want it.

Solid concrete construction means less chance you’ll hear your neighbours (or they’ll hear you).

10. You can do your laundry at home.

Every unit has its own front-loading washer and dryer.

11. Everything is included in your rent.

Heat. Water. Hydro. Internet. Laundry machines. Fully furnished bedrooms. Couch and kitchen stools. Window coverings.

12. This place was built by students, for students.

Think about that. It means that the bottom line is to look out for the best interest of students, not create huge profits.

13. The landlord (Guelph Campus Co-op) is close by.

That means responsive, attentive service, including for after-hours emergencies. Because we are a student organization, we actually care about the comfort and satisfaction of our residents. We want your life to be easier so you can focus on your work.

14. We don’t ask for parent guarantors.

University students are adults. We treat you that way. Our rental agreements are with you.

And your rental history starts with us, so we can be a reference when you move on.
